The JU 52, the first large passenger airplane made entirely of metal, wrote contemporary history. Thanks to its outstanding flight characteristics, long range and safety, as well as unprecedented comfort on board, this aircraft became a bestseller for Junkers-Werke. After just a few years, Deutsche Luft Hansa AG had more than 100 of this type in its fleet. The JU 52 was in service with at least 27 airlines on all continents.
